Mini Markethings Issue 8
The realisation that your mood affects your work more than you think it does, plus a real quick email marketing secret from an expert that you should try
✨ Highlight of the week:
What a bummer of a weekend.
An article of mine got rejected by a client’s client (I work for an agency).
The feedback? The article was too negative.
I pondered upon why I wrote it out that way.
Was it a lack of direction? Was it me not understanding the brief?
I read it again. I tried to recall my thought process when I wrote it.
And then I realised - I was feeling really down when I wrote that article out.
I was uncertain of where my business was going, and it didn’t help that the article I was writing about was about 9-to-5 jobs.
Moral of the story: Be careful about the mood you’re in when you’re right.
Remember that saying, never make decisions when you’re angry?
Same approach.
So how did I regain my positivity to ensure I wrote a more well-thought-out article?
Helps to have a group of like-minded people to chat with
Listen to some music (anything you like, doesn’t have to be calming - I’m talking Slipknot and Rage Against The Machine, if you need to)
Try to write without distractions. Keep your phone away and switch off your Wi-Fi if possible.
