Mini Markethings Issue 1
The first of weekly newsletters providing you mini doses of marketing news, lessons, tips and resources
✨ Highlight of the week:
If you subscribed to this from the Mini Marketing Hacks Instagram, thank you for following both platforms.
This week, I’d like to share with you a conversation I had over the weekend.
After small talk with a new friend, he finally asked, “So, Manisha, what is it that you actually do? You write, but you’re also into social media?”
I get this question all the time.
It’s hard to articulate what you do when you just love doing so many things.
But I tried to explain.
Yes, I’m a content writer. I’ve been writing for almost a decade. I help clients with website copy, blogs, guidebooks, profile writing, proofreading, social media captions and more.
And yes, I’m a marketing consulting. I consult solopreneurs on their marketing strategies, revolving around content marketing (traffic generation with blogs), social media (awareness with caption writing, strategy) and email marketing (lead generation, newsletters).
A lot of my clients don’t have time to do this themselves.
This is where I step in and update and direct them to do what works for their business with their limited resources.
Because I only have limited time myself, being a one-woman show, I created an online presence where I share these bite-sized marketing tips (via Instagram, my website and now this newsletter).
I love what I do. While writing takes a big chunk of my time, I still want to help solopreneurs with marketing.
With this newsletter, I’m sticking to the bite-sized marketing information for big-time success motto.

Content Marketing Tip:
How do you decide which types of content to use?
Let’s say you want to start a podcast.
Clearly, the first content type identified is audio - for recording and publishing your podcast.
But what else can you add on, especially if you have limited time and budget?
Pro-tip: Record your podcast in video format. That way, you can have both audio (podcast streaming app such as Spotify) and video (on YouTube), generating traffic on both platforms and satisfying target audiences who prefer either mediums.
Once you have enough audio and video material, you need to decide which content type to market on your social media platforms.
If you have Instagram, research what other podcast hosts are doing.
Common things include - teaser audiocasts, quotes from the latest episode, short one-minute Instagram feed clips, and more.
What do you use?
Social Media Tip:
Instagram just seems to change non-stop.
I’ve been on Instagram with Mini Marketing Hacks for almost 10 months now, and things have evolved so much since.
How can you keep up with all these changes?
Here are some ways I recommend:
Follow insightful thought leaders and experts on Instagram (I also suggest to follow marketing gurus on Twitter, if you have a profile)
Experiment in short bursts (e.g. this week try daily posts, next week limit it to three)
Create a Google Alert or follow one or two marketing newsletters (*ahem*) for the latest updates on algorithm or features
